The BarN @1 Mont Kiara - The Place For Wine ~ Tapas ~ Firegrill

THE BAR°N
 WINE * TAPAS * FIREGRILL

The decision to name his restauraut 'THE BAR°N' came about because the owner wanted something instantly memorable for patrons. As per the name, the establishment serves a menu of  tapas, cold cuts, main courses and salads to go with wines, cocktails or cold beer to help you unwind and relax over good food and entertainment.

THE BAR°N has something in store for each member of the family, be it pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, hearty main courses and even light starters or tapas (small plates), soups and salads for the ladies. THE BAR°N at 1 Mont Kiara is located away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it's a stylish down-to-earth 'playground' for family and friends to meet up over good food, great drinks and have lots of laughs.

THE BAR°N Coffee Bar

The coffee machine is the heart and soul of a successful café. As such, THE BAR°N Coffee Bar boasts of a well-known UK brand of coffee machine ~ La Cimbali, a new traditional espresso machine that produces outstanding espresso coffees, from ristrettos to frothy cappuccinos, time after time perfectly.

La Cimbali, a automatic espresso machine provides the restaurant an ideal solution to serving its patrons with freshly brewed coffee with exquisite taste and delicate flavour. I was told that La Cimbali espresso machines are well-known in the coffee industry in making the best coffee going.

Liquor Lockers

The BAR°N is unique as they offers spirits storage systems that allow customers to keep their unfinished spirits bottles in a safe spot for later consumption. The concept of Liquor Lockers On-premise gains customer loyalty. They say that if you leave something behind, it means you'll eventually come back. Located next to the wine room, that stores the spirits, each lockers is labelled with the patron's name for prominent visibility.

Wine Retail Room

The BAR°N houses it own wine retail with wide range of quality imported wines mainly from Australia and New Zealand. According to Mr Derrick Ng ~ Head of Culinary, they have wines from the New World which are more affordable with prices beginning from as low as RM 80. Besides, wine drinkers will be spoilt for choice as there are 60 to 100 labels to choose from.

Diners can first choose and shop for a bottle of wine within the restaurant to enjoy with dinner at The BAR°N.  By the way, diners get 3 complimentary tapas when they purchase any 2 bottles of wine at RM 120 each.

Classic Margarita
RM 32

I kicked start my BAR°N's dining experience with a Classic Margarita, a concoction with Tequila, Grand Marnier, Cointreau and Lime Syrup with recommendation from Ms Anna, my host for the night.

Crispy Pork Belly & Garlic Prawns
Both Priced @RM 12.90

To whet appetites, we were served with tapas that pair well with wines, cocktails, beers and liquor. The BAR°N signature Crispy Pork Belly was delicious and addictive, tasting quite similar to the Siew Yuk.

Roasted to perfection using their secret recipe and special technique for a crispy skin on the outside while retaining the meat juicy and tender on the inside. Tender and soft with a crunchiness provided by crackling skin, both my hubby and I demolish every slice on the bowl and when it comes to the last slice, I insist that I takes it!

As for the Garlic Prawns, it was fresh, well-marinated with garlic and herbs, and sauteed beautifully with creamy butter. You can taste the sweetness of the prawn with garlicky flavour within.

Bacon Wrapped Sausages
RM 12.90

These Bacon Wrapped Sausages were delightful and sinful treat to eat. The combination of premium sausages wrapped with pork belly bacon, creates a wonderful dish of different textures with the bouncy firm sausages and the chewy savoury bacon. A total indulgence with these 3 appetising tapas for me that night!

Barcelona Platter of Cold Cuts
RM 39.90

Next, we had Barcelona Platter of Cold Cuts. An assortment of premium choice cuts of milano salami, gypsy ham, iberico ham served with mix of olives and balsamic vinaigrette and ciabatta bread. Light on the palate, the cold cuts was a good combination that goes well with wine.

Skewered Pork Satay
RM 12.90

Do try out the Skewered Pork Satay if you love pork with fat. Looking more like kebabs than satay, these chunky pork meat are skewed with fat and lean meat in between each other. During the grilling process, the juices that melted from the fat does its part by making the pork more succulent and not dry nor tough to bite.

Belacan Chicken Wings
RM 12.90

Another tapas not to be missed is their Belacan Chicken Wings. Well-marinated with a slight hint of belacan flavoured and not overpowering. I loved the juicy and tender chicken wings as it was bursting with flavour and crisp with genuine aroma of the belacan.

Local Favourites of Belacan Chicken Wing & Pork Satay

The BAR°N Famous BBQ Pork Ribs
RM 35.90

Diners looking for something more filling and hearty, can also try out The BAR°N Famous BBQ Pork Ribs. Ribs slow-cooked till tender, then basted with freshly made in-house BBQ sauces. Best eaten with hands, these finger-licking-good spare ribs can get a little salty, but one does get the pork's natural flavour and again, the creamy mashed potatoes with mixed vegetables of broccoli and cauliflower is a nice contrast to the meat.

Slow Roasted Pork Belly
RM 35.90

Another decadently sinful porky-li-cious dish is the Slow Roasted Pork Belly. Among the more interesting pork dish to try, The BAR°N specialty is made of a very specific cut of pork that combines tender lean meat and succulent fat. Slow-cooked with Chinese herbs and spices, the sauce flavour penetrate fully into the meat, making it one of the tastiest meat I ever tasted.

Served with asparagus and Spanish salad mix, it is hard not to resist this is perfectly executed pork belly. Sauce was positively smoky and flavourful as we slurp up the sauce up to the last drop!

Blueberry Cheese Cake
RM 11.90

Red Velvet Cake
RM 11.90

Affogato with Kapiti ice cream

Dessert came in the form of the heavenly Blueberry Cheese cake for myself, Red Velvet for my daughter and all-time-favourite of the Affogato for my dearest hubby.

Latte & Gryphon Tea

To counter the sweetness of the dessert, I opted for a cup of Gryphon Tea while my the other half had latte to end our scrumptious and memorable meal at  The BAR°N.  Bon Appetite !
